The agency outlines new long-term drought plan with Central Valley Project officials.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) recently announced that the Central Valley Project’s water agencies have been awarded $81 million to continue improving drought resiliency in central and lower California. Acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis made the announcement at the organization’s Stewart Lee Udall building, where officials also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to update long-term drought plans for the region.
“Water resources in the San Joaquin Valley support food production and agricultural output across California, deliver water to urban centers in the greater Sacramento and San Francisco Bay areas, and support fish and wildlife throughout the region,” said the acting deputy secretary. “When we invest in the San Joaquin Valley, we invest in people, in wildlife, in economies, and in our future.”
